Jobs &
Training - 59th Maine State Police Training Troop
The 59th Recruit Training Troop started strong on Monday morning ready for another week of advanced training. We were all very excited to learn we were going to be at the shooting range for the majority of the week. We were issued our firearms and went over safety at the range and what was expected of the Troop.
While at the range each Recruit was able to become comfortable and accurate with their firearm. We were given unlimited ammunition and had extremely talented and proficient firearms instructors. We were basically given one on one training for the entire week. Although day two at the range was rainy and cool the 59th stayed motivated and eager to learn advanced firearms tactics. The 59th Training Troop learned the difference between concepts and techniques and how to apply those to our marksmanship skills. We were given the opportunity to compete against each other in different scenarios both day and night. We continued with defensive tactics training and worked on some more advanced concepts and techniques. Physical fitness training was challenging and rewarding. This included a trip to the swimming pool for another CrossFit workout. The Troop was instructed on the policies surrounding Domestic Violence and discussed several different scenarios we may come across as Troopers regarding Domestic Violence. We were given an interesting block of instruction on courtroom testimony and how to conduct ourselves professionally and effectively in the court room. "Advanced techniques are the basics mastered," was the quote we focused on this week. We continue to progress as a Troop and look forward to another week of mastering the basics. Week 3 Photo Gallery
