61st Maine State Police Training Troop
The Recruits of the 61st RTT entered week 4 focused and excited to continue with the advanced training that we have been receiving. The Troop was also presented with the quote "Discipline must be habit so ingrained that it is stronger than the excitement of battle or the fear of death" which was very fitting for this week of instruction.
One of the reasons this quote was so significant was, because it was firearms week. As we know a major part of firearms and being a consistent accurate shooter is muscle memory. That muscle memory which we practiced over and over again this week will be the difference between success and failure in a deadly force situation. That same muscle memory will enable us to react to a stressful situation when presented with one, and remain calm. The advanced instruction which we received from all the firearms instructors was excellent and all the Recruits improved upon their skill sets, no matter how proficient a shooter they were before. The Recruits were also exposed to multiple weapons systems and fired many rounds on each.
This week the Recruits of the 61st were once again able to test their defensive tactics skills and see how far they have come in such a short period of time. Thanks to the numerous sessions of Advanced Defensive Tactics, all members of the Troop have improved in that area. The Recruits understand how valuable this training is and have been dedicating themselves and immersing themselves to this training.
The Troop is getting ever closer to that ultimate goal, and all the Recruits are becoming more and more determined to achieve that goal. The 61st appreciates the level of training that we're receiving and we are eager for more.
