Concealed Handgun Permits, Contract Security, Professional Investigators & Investigative Assistants

The Gaming and Weapons Unit provides concealed handgun permits for approximately 360 municipalities in Maine as well as all out of state permits.  Approximately 6,000 permits are processed per year by this unit.  This unit also is responsible for licensing professional investigators, investigative assistants, and Professional security companies.

Notice to concealed handgun permit applicants: Due to the high volume of applications the Weapons Division is receiving, it may take as long as 150 days to receive your permit.

• South Dakota (May 18, 2009)
• Louisiana (June 25, 2009)
• North Dakota - Class 1 Permits (June 7, 2010)
• Wyoming (June 7, 2010)
• Arkansas (June 21, 2010)
• Pennsylvania (November 1, 2011)
• Michigan (November 9, 2011)
