Educator Awards
Maine Teacher of the Year– The Maine Teacher of the Year is an outstanding teacher who best represents the thousands of excellent educators in Maine. She or he serves as an advocate for the teaching profession, education and students. All Maine certified K-12 teachers are eligible to be nominated, from private schools as well as public schools. Any teacher, parent, student, or community member may nominate a teacher by contacting the building principal who then convenes a committee to complete the nomination papers.
Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award – In the early 1980’s, Lowell Milken created an awards program to acknowledge educators’ crucial contributions to our national well-being. His main belief was, and is, that an effective way to advance the teaching profession is to reward educators’ achievements, enhance their resources, and expand their professional interests.
Maine Talent Pool - Educators named to the Maine Talent Pool are teachers and principals who may be considered for membership on advisory boards and task forces, as well as candidates for special recognition programs. Your recommendations will identify educators who will be of great value to your community and state and who may also ultimately receive prestigious recognition.
