Promising Practices

On March 26, 2003 a group of talented and knowledgeable educators, engaged in the important work of Promising Futures, gathered to discuss and record the successful strategies they had employed in their own schools.

The purpose of this gathering was the development of a Promising Futures Practitioner's Guide. It is our hope that this guide will serve as a valuable resource for educators seeking to improve learning for Maine's secondary students.

For each of the Promising Practices, the Guide provides most or all of the following information:

Names and contact information for the educators with expertise and experience in implementing the practice;

The Core Principles and/or Practices addressed;

Desired outcomes of the Promising Practice;

Snapshots of Positive Results;

Recommended Resources;

Names of schools with experience in implementing the Promising Practice;

Recommended procedures for implementing the Promising practice; and

Recommended Assessment Methods.
