MAINE HOSA

CONDUCT CODE

As a state of Maine HOSA member, I realize I have a great responsibility to represent our organization with respect to our organization and other members of HOSA. I promise my conduct at HOSA events will be exemplary at all times and any misconduct will be a direct reflection of our organization.

I understand HOSA is a privilege and the obligations and rewards of participating in HOSA can be revoked of this contract. By signing the HOSA conduct code; I am dedicating myself to the ideals of HOSA

 

MAJOR VIOLATIONS
This is a serious matter, any inappropriate behavior imposed on you, another HOSA member, or advisor will be penalized.
 
1. Any major violation of the conduct code will result in the student being dismissed from Maine HOSA. Action will be taken immediately, and if necessary, a parent will be contacted immediately and asked to remove the student from the premises.
2. A letter from the state advisor will be sent to the student with a carbon copy to the vocational director (or department chairperson), advisor, and parent.
 
MAJOR VIOLATIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
 
1. Possession of explosives
2. Malicious damage to property; this includes the possession of hotel property or articles not belonging to that member.
3. Possession of deadly weapon
4. Possession or use of drugs or alcohol
5. Stealing
6. Leaving the premises of an event without permission. (Permission must be obtained from an advisor)Students who do not respect the authority of any HOSA advisor are subject to penalization to a major violation.
7. Students are not allowed to remain in the sleeping room of the opposite sex unless the door is completely open at all times and unless the person is my spouse.
 
MINOR VIOLATIONS
Minor violations are subject to penalty. These violations will be treated as a serious matter and will be handled and corrected immediately by the advisor noticing the violations.
 

MINOR VIOLATIONS INCLUDE/BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Failure to keep advisor informed as to your whereabouts
2. Violation of dress code
3. Unauthorized absence from a meeting or session
4. Use of profanity. This includes inappropriate language with your peers. It is inappropriate and will not be accepted.
5. Violation of curfew
6. Failing to spend the night in the room assigned
7. Failure to wear official ID badge
8. Poor attendance or late to activities that one is registered or assigned.
 
It is the Maine State Law that any student or individual under the age of 18 is prohibited from buying, possessing, or using tobacco products. There will be no exception at HOSA related events. Those 18 years or older who wish to smoke must do so in the designated smoking areas only. Those failing to do so will be dismissed from HOSA. It is also prohibited that advisors, parents, and HOSA officials participate in this act with any student. Those failing to abide will be subject to penalty.
 
Since HOSA is a health organization, it is important that you respect the official HOSA dress by not smoking while in uniform. Those individuals failing to obey this rule of conduct will have all tobacco products confiscated and an official will be called. The member will be responsible for all disciplinary action and possible fines subject by state of Maine Law.
 
I have read the above HOSA conduct code and agree to abide by all rules and regulations. I agree that if for any reason I am in violation of this contract, I will accept the penalties imposed on me. All such actions will be explained to me and I further realize that the severity of the penalty may increase with the severity of the violation.
