Health Occupations Information

Responsibility for the CNA program has been transferred to DHHS/Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services.

While DHHS is setting up their own web page of CNA information, the Department of Education has agreed to keep this page available.

If you need further information, please contact Robert Carr by email or phone (287-2281).

CNA Curriculum

The Maine Board of Nursing increased the minimum CNA program hours from 150 to 180 effective January 1, 2010. They also introduced a 180-hour curriculum.

  • All CNA courses MUST use the 180-hour curriculum and the CNA program MUST be at least 180 hours in length.
  • To download a copy of the 180-hour curriculum, click here for a Word file or here for an Adobe file. (Adobe file is much smaller)
  • Click here for a Word file which lists the major changes.
  • Click here for an Adobe file which compares the 180-hour to the 150-hour curriculum and highlights the changes.

Please direct questions about the curriculum and change in hours to Virginia (Ginny) Delorimier at the Board of Nursing.
