World Languages in Maine Schools: A Standards-Based Instruction and Assessment Initiative

World Languages in Maine Schools: A Standards-Based Instruction and Assessment Initiative is a collaborative effort of the Foreign Language Association of Maine (FLAME), the Maine Department of Education, and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).  Phase II of this initiative begins with the 2013 World Languages in Maine Schools Summer Institute on June 25-28 at the University of Maine Farmington.  Current world language teachers are invited to apply as Regional Teacher Leaders or regular participants.

 

World Languages Regional Teacher Leader Search - PDF

Nine teacher leaders (one from each Superintendent region of the state) will be selected for training and providing regional professional development during the 2013-2014 school year.  They will join a cadre of current regional teacher leaders.

The application deadline is May 20 and notification will occur by May 31.

 

2013 World Languages in Maine Schools Summer Institute - PDF

In addition to those selected as teacher leaders, interested world language educators are invited to attend the summer institute on June 25-27 at the University of Maine Farmington

A completed registration form and full payment are due by May 31.  Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until maximum capacity is reached.
