STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are the foundations of an advanced society. Federal and state leaders and the academic community view the strength of the STEM workforce as an indicator of our ability to sustain ourselves. If we wish to ensure equitable access to high wage, high growth employment for Maine students, learning in these areas must also be part of the educational foundation for all Maine students. The Statewide Strategic Plan for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics provides a course of action and outline of key partnerships that are necessary to strengthen STEM learning in Maine.

Maine's Environmental Literacy Plan
Environmentally literate students are able to recognize the components of healthy environmental systems and what actions are necessary to maintain, restore, or improve their health. They understand key, science-based concepts and connections, and have the skills and confidence needed to help develop technology and other solutions for 21st century challenges.
The Maine Department of Education is partnering with Maine Audubon, the Maine Environmental Education Association, and the Maine Department of Conservation to promote environmental education in Maine.
