American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

 

The Department of Education has awarded thirteen competitive grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) following the guidelines of Title IID Enhancing Education Through Technology.

Nine grants were made to school administrative units to research and identify open educational resources (OER) to support the integration of technology in teaching and learning in each of the core subject areas. The SAUs and partnering organizations are responsible for creating teams of teachers from each of the superintendents regions as well representatives from related content area professional organizations and higher education.

Four grants have been awarded to four SAUs partnering with content providers to develop, pilot and present professional development models for utilizing OER materials in Mathematics, Science, English/Language Arts and Visual and Performing Arts. Most projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2010-11 school year. Evaluation information will be completed by September 30, 2011.
