Department Awards Grants to Research Open Education Resources in English/Language Arts and Career and Technical Education

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)

The Department of Education has made the first grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) following the guidelines of Title IID Enhancing Education Through Technology.

The grants were awarded in response to a request for proposals for school administrative units to research and identify for the identification of open educational resources (OER) to support the integration of technology in teaching and learning in two of the nine Content Areas of the Maine Learning Results (MLR). The SAUs are responsible for creating teams of teachers from each of the superintendents regions as well as institutes of higher education and related professional organizations.

RSU 58 was awarded a $50,000 the grant for researching OER materials in English Language Arts. RSU88/SAD24 has been awarded the grant for researching OER materials in Career and Technical Education.
