This symposium was designed for those who had NOT previously participated in RISC learning opportunities.
We encouraged attendance by teams representing all stakeholders - superintendents, curriculum directors, administrators, board members, community members, principals, business partners, teacher leaders, instructional staff, and students. Students were strongly encouraged to attend, as we included a student section where students had an opportunity to work with a RISC Model teacher and other RISC Model students.

Issues/Topics:
- Overview of the RISC Model
- Why is Shared Vision important?
- Leadership at all levels
- Moving from a time-based to a performance-based system

**A greatly condensed session was offered on Sunday, September 13 from 4-8 p.m. for participants (primarily School Board members) who were unable to attend the more comprehensive and in-depth sessions being offered over the course of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. This condensed session in no way replaced a more in-depth session, but was an opportunity to begin to develop an initial understanding of the components of the RISC Model and learner-centered, performance-based educational systems.
