Late yesterday afternoon we found there was some confusion about the specific product being recalled by Palo Duro Meats.  The recalled product was only one truck and was only shipped to Georgia.  However, other states compared the product label establishment number and production code and believed they also received recalled product.

There are two further pieces of information to pinpoint the recalled product, which was not clear in the recall release.  The production date, found in the upper left side of the label, must be 09-09-11, and the lot number, found in the lower right corner, must be 065.  I’ve attached a press release from Palo Duro that includes this information.

To summarize, please let your states know that only product matching the following identifiers is being recalled:

Est. number:             7282
Production code:        19110
Production date:        09-09-11
Lot number:             065

Only product with labels matching all 4 of the pieces of information above are being recalled.  All other product from Palo Duro is good for use.

If you have a state that believes they have product matching this description, please have them scan a copy of the label and send it to us as soon as possible.
