Provide a concise statement that describes your organization: Class.com founded Lincoln National Academy in 2011 after several years of offering online teachers with online its courseware. Class.com was established as the final step in the CLASS (Communications Learning and Assessment in a Student-centered System) Project, a multimillion Star Schools research grant and has been delivering research-based online learning solutions throughout the county since 1999. LNA’s approach to online teaching and learning emerged from more than a decade of experience creating Web-based courses and building successful online learning programs. Like Class.com, LNA’s online learning program evolved from research. Class.com and Lincoln National Academy delivered instruction and courseware for the Virtual Algebra Study, a research study funded by the federal U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Educational Sciences and conducted by Regional Educational Laboratory-Northeast and Island. The study examined the effects of offering online algebra to eighth graders in rural Maine and Vermont middle schools and found that students enrolled in LNA’s Algebra I course tested higher on a test of algebra knowledge and were found to be twice as likely to participate in an advanced math courses than their peers who were not enrolled.
