Candidates

Candidates for Governor, the Legislature, and county office must register and file campaign finance reports with the Ethics Commission. Candidates should appoint a treasurer and register with the Commission before raising or spending any funds.

Candidates running for municipal office in certain towns and cities must register and file campaign finance reports with the municipal clerk.

The Secretary of State's office provides a Candidate's Guide to Ballot Access. The Guide describes the requirements and procedures for candidates to gain access to the ballot. It also provides instructions for completing and circulating nomination petitions.
