The imagery were captured May 1, 2004 by Photo Science of Lexington KY, and further processed by KAPPA Mapping of Bangor ME to create orthophotos Purpose: General mapping, planning, and other municipal uses. Lineage: Process_Step: Process_Description: For the 6" orthos, which are over the downtown Bar Harbor area: Project Details This project consists of aerotriangulation of 2 strips of 1"=600' photography over the downtown area of Bar Harbor, Maine. The final results are to be used to generate 1"=100' planimetric mapping of the downtown area and to produce O.5' resolution digital orthophotos. Photography A total of 2 flight lines of panchromatic aerial photography, 14 stereo photographs, were taken at an altitude of 3,600 feet above ground level. The photography was taken running from the northwest to the southeast generally paralleling the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean. The photography was obtained in May 1, 2004 using a conventional 6" focal length lens, and airborne GPS (ABGPS). Control The ground control for this project consists of GPS surveyed targeted ground control. The targeted ground control was used to perform softcopy A/T that also used ABGPS data. The following is a list of the targeted ground control coordinates: Point ID Easting Northing Elevation 102 1062222.179 262061.361 45.574 103 1061600.889 264518.516 10.300 104 1056553.034 262865.785 156.661 105 1057454.261 259559.051 148.352 106 1060668.922 259005.939 87.022 107 1062175.633 255294.247 277.028 1101 1063863.023 253752.428 141.335 Aerotriangulation Measurement Pass points and flight ties were pugged using a Wild PU G 3 device. The measurement of the pass point and control data was performed on a DSR-14 analytical stereo plotter using ABC software. The data exported from this process is the raw plate coordinates. Aerotriangulation Adjustment The adjustment of the raw coordinates received from DSR-14 and the ground control were adjusted using ALBANY software. All strips were first run through a polynomial strip and block adjustment for the purpose of detecting blunders. The fInal adjustment of the block was accomplished by using a rigorous simultaneous least squares bundle adjustment. Aerotriangulation Results The average residual for 14 points was .203 (feet). An additional and 1 strip of 1"= 1500' photography was flown over Cadillac Mountain to ensure stereo coverage over the entire mountain. The final results are to be used to generate 1"=200' planimetric mapping of the rural town areas and to produce 1.0' resolution digital orthophotos for both the rural town areas. Photography A total of 6 flight lines of panchromatic aerial photography, 69 stereo photographs, were taken at an altitude of 7,200 feet above ground level. An additional flight line of 5 stereo photographs, were taken at an altitude of 9,000 feet above ground level.
