Rep. Michael F. Brennan is serving his fourth consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives, having previously served four terms in the Maine House and three in the Maine Senate.

During his previous service in the House, Brennan chaired the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee and the Joint Select Committee on Substance Use. He also served on the Health and Human Services Committee and the Business and Economic Development Committee. As a state senator, he served as majority leader and chaired the Health and Human Services Committee, the Joint Select Committee on Health Care Reform and the Blue Ribbon Commission on MaineCare Reform.

Brennan is a licensed clinical social worker and has been an adjunct faculty member at both the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England. He also served as mayor of Portland from 2011 to 2015.

Brennan lives in Portland with his wife of more than 40 years, Joan Martay. They have two grown children and one grandchild.
