AUGUSTA – On Thursday, Department of Marine Resources (DMR) Commissioner Patrick Keliher announced the decision to pull a proposed rule change that would have increased the minimum lobster gauge size starting July 2025.
Following the decision, Rep. Holly Eaton, D-Deer Isle, issued the following statement:
“For years, fishermen have been dealing with one challenge after another, and this gives them some breathing room. Maine’s lobster industry is the heart of our coastal communities, and this decision shows that DMR is listening to the concerns of our fishermen.”
