Lee chosen by Smart Growth America to participate in State Legislators Champions Institute

AUGUSTA - Rep. Adam Lee, D-Auburn, was one of 20 state legislators chosen from across the country by Smart Growth America to participate in the State Legislators Champions Institute, an initiative to equip state legislators from across the country to effectively advocate for and support more activity-friendly transportation in their states.

"Maine needs to prioritize people in considering policies that design and update our transportation systems," said Lee. "I am excited to learn from my colleagues in other states and from experts in transportation and land use development on how we can work to make Maine's transportation system more activity-friendly and make our communities more accessible and equitable."

Throughout March and April, Lee will attend virtual learning sessions discussing how to ensure transportation policy supports public health, climate and equity goals.

SGA, a nonprofit based in Washington, D.C., works with local and state officials to ensure urban development policies foster safe, equitable and sustainable community growth.

Lee is serving his first term in the Maine House and is a member of the Legislature's Judiciary Committee. He represents House District 89, which includes a portion of Auburn, including its downtown.
