Proposed Stocking Program Changes

Stocking proposals that have successfully passed the Fisheries Division’s peer review process are presented below for public comment in accordance with Sec. 1. 12 § 12758-A. Stocking programs that have been proposed for termination are also presented below for public comment. Please contact Dave Boucher, Fisheries Management Supervisor, if you have questions regarding these stocking changes.

Fresh Pond North Haven Knox Brook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended to create a new brook trout fishery for fall and winter anglers by using large fall-yearling brook trout. For additional details see stocking proposal. 1/12/15 to 2/10/15
Mace’s Pond Rockport Knox Brook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended to create a new brook trout fishery for fall and winter anglers by using large fall-yearling brook trout. For additional details see stocking proposal. 1/12/15 to 2/10/15
Rocky Pond Rockport Knox Brook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended to create a new brook trout fishery for fall and winter anglers by using large fall-yearling brook trout. A youth-only winter fishing season may be proposed later in 2014. Goose River Swanville and Belfast Waldo Brook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended to augment an existing stocked brook trout fishery that is supported by hatchery trout that drop down from Swan Lake. Stillwater River Orono Penobscot Brook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended create a new spring and early summer fishing opportunity in a heavily populated area where recreational demand is high. See stocking proposal. 1/12/15 to 2/10/15
Indian and Dam Ponds T07 R09 NWP Piscataquis Brook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This will reestablish an earlier every-third-year stocking program that failed to provide a good fishery. Stocking of fall fingerling brook trout will occur annually to provide more consistency in the fishery. See stocking proposal. 1/12/15 to 2/10/15
Scraggly Lake T7 R8 WELS Penobscot Landlocked salmon New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended to supplement a small wild salmon population and improve angler catch rates. For additional details: see stocking proposal.1/16/15 to 2/14/15
Big Greenwood PondElliotsville PLT PiscataquisBrook trout New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is intended to create a new brook trout fishery utilizing fall fingerling fish. Stocking will not commence until public access for summer anglers is secured. For additional details: see stocking proposal.1/16/15 to 2/14/15
Alford LakeHope KnoxLandlocked salmon New program that underwent IFW peer review. This program is designed to reestablish a small salmon fishery to augment existing fisheries for stocked brown trout and brook trout. For additional details: see stocking proposal...1/23/15 to 2/21/15
