Media Alert: Ice Safety Press Conference

The Maine Warden Service and Tom Noonan, coordinator of the Maine Winterfest and Derby, are partnering today to remind people heading out onto Sebago Lake or any of the state’s lakes and ponds this weekend to be safe.

“We want people to have fun this weekend – and we want them to be safe,” said Maine Warden Service Sgt. Tim Spahr.

Spahr and Noonan will talk about ice safety at 2 p.m. today at the Point Sebago Resort, 261 Point Sebago Road off Route 302 in Casco.

The Maine Winterfest and Derby is one of the state’s biggest winter events, drawing thousands of people to the three-day event on Sebago Lake. Activities include a Kids Beginner Derby and a two-day ice fishing derby.
