Press ReleasesJuly 18, 2008 Windham – The Maine Warden Service has suspended for the night its search for a 19-year-old male who is missing and presumed drowned in Highland Lake in Windham. The teenager, who is not being identified because all of his family has not been notified, was out boating with three males, ages 20, 28 and 38, at approximately 3 p.m. when the 19-year-old and one of the other individuals decided to jump overboard, according to Lt. Pat Dorian of the Maine Warden Service. The boat was traveling at an undetermined rate of speed when the incident occurred. “One of the individuals came up out of the water and the 19-year-old male did not,” Dorian said. The Maine Warden Service searched Highland Lake from the water and from the air. Lightning storms in the area restricted the use of the Maine Warden Service Dive Team. On Saturday morning, the Maine Warden Service will continue its efforts to locate the missing gentleman beginning at approximately 8 a.m. The MWS is being assisted by the Windham Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. An investigation into the incident is under way. |
