Maine Warden Service: Bowdoin Teen Seriously Injured in Snowmobile Incident

Augusta, Maine - A 19-year-old Bowdoin man suffered serious neck injuries in a snowmobile incident Saturday evening (December 19) in Bowdoin.

Michael Racine, 19, of Bowdoin, was driving a Ski-Doo 800cc Renegade around in circles in a field off Litchfield Road at approximately 6 p.m. when he hit a small knoll and went airborne, according to Maine Warden Service Game Warden Bob Decker. A friend who was riding a snowmobile nearby saw the sled come to a stop, noticed his friend in the snow a short distance away and called for help.

Mr. Racine was transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he is being treated for serious neck injuries. Mr. Racine was not wearing a helmet.

The incident is under investigation.
