Wildlife Habitat Data

Types of data available from MDIFW:

• Essential Wildlife Habitats
• Significant Wildlife Habitats (NRPA)
• Natural Heritage Data (Observations of endangered, threatened, and special concern wildlife species)
• Requesting Data

Requests for wildlife habitat data to be used in pre-application permit screening relative to the Natural Resources Protection Act should be directed to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

“Beginning with Habitat” is a habitat-based, landscape approach to assessing wildlife and plant conservation needs and opportunities. The program provides natural resource information, including MDIFW’s wildlife habitat data and data from other natural resource agencies, to support landscape planning and conservation efforts.
