Upland Sandpipers need large grassland areas
(generally at least 400 acres). "Uppies" nest at
Kennebunk Plains Wildlife Management Area (photo),
one of the few sandplain grasslands remaining
in Maine. Upland Sandpipers also nest in large
grasslands at several airports across the state.
