About Maine InfoNet

Purpose:

Maine InfoNet is a collaborative of academic, public, school, and special libraries that provides leadership in resource sharing, promotes cost effective solutions for quality library information services, and supports the cultural, educational, and economic development of Maine.

Mission:

Maine InfoNet connects the people of Maine to information and ideas through library cooperation.

Maine InfoNet Board Strategic Priorities 2012—2013

  • Address Governance Issues and Implement
    • Revise By-laws document
    • Create MIN Board operations manual
  • Write an Exploratory Needs Document for Next Generation Library System
    • Appoint a committee to define what we really want a system or systems to do
    • Use outline of “fuzzy vision for the future of the MaineCat environment" as starting point
  • Outreach to Maine Library Organizations
    • Invite district consultants to Board meeting
    • Invite other Maine library organizations to MIN Board meeting(s)
  • Add Members to SOLAR and Minerva in the next twelve months
  • Convene Three Statewide Library Summits
    • Directors – Fall 2012
    • Collection Development—Spring 2013
    • Circulation – Spring 2013
      • Fines and fees across MaineCat Libraries
  • Communication to Maine Library Community
    • Launch new MIN website
    • Produce an annual report
    • Regular use of MELIBS
  • Strategize the impact of eBooks and digital content for Maine Libraries
  • Prototype the use of the Maine InfoNet Collaborative as fiscal agent for purchasing
