Maine InfoNet Board Minutes, May 14, 2010, Annual Retreat
The Maine InfoNet Board met for its Annual Retreat at the Colby College Library in Waterville on May 14, 2010 at 9:30am.
Members present:
Janet Bolduc, Librarian, Central Maine Medical Center; Richard Boulet, Director, Blue Hill Public Library; Judith Frost, Director of Library Services, CMCC; Clem Guthro, Director, Colby College Libraries; Linda Lord, State Librarian; Barbara McDade, Director, Bangor Public Library; David Nutty, Director of Libraries at USM; Elizabeth Reisz, Director of Library Media Services, York Schools; Joyce Rumery, Dean of Libraries at UM and Richard Thompson, Chief Information Officer, State of Maine.
InfoNet staff present:
James Jackson Sanborn, Executive Director.
Members absent:
Ralph Caruso, CIO University of Maine System and Steve Podgajny, Director, Portland Public Library.
Minutes:
On a motion made by Clem and seconded by Joyce, the minutes of the April 21, 2010 meeting were unanimously approved.
Executive Director Report:
Report sent to Board prior to meeting with update on the status of the 501c3 application, as requested.
Meeting with Maine Historical Society(MHS):
Following review of the memorandum of understanding re: collaborations, a motion was made by Clem and seconded by Joyce to send the draft, as corrected, to the MHS for their perusal. The motion passed. Next step, determine how long is needed to add MMN metadata before public launch. James recommended soft roll-out. When kinks are worked out, put button on Marvel site and use listservs and state library organizations to communicate to constituencies.
Freedom Express:
Meeting to work out issues went well.
Last Copy Center:
Meeting to revisit how costs will be covered, differing expectations by public vs. academic libraries, and whether it will be active or passive repository will be held June 21.
