InfoNet staff present: James Jackson Sanborn, Executive Director.

Members absent: Ralph Caruso, CIO University of Maine System.

Business Meeting Minutes

On a motion made by Rich and seconded by Joyce, the minutes of the March 23, 2011 meeting were unanimously approved.

IMLS Grant

Valerie Glenn has been hired, on a 3-year contract, to staff the grant and will begin June 1. Plans for implementation are in the works. After consultation with those who have print-on-demand machines it has been decided to not purchase one but to explore other options through the university print shop. Those consulted found there is not enough demand to support to cost. A proposal to make that change will be submitted to IMLS for approval. An extension for a six-month, not additional cost, extension to the grant was requested in order to offer Valerie a 3-year contract.

Executive Director’s Report

Albert (Albie) Dunn, new Library Support Technician, started at May 9th.

MaineCat upgrade is scheduled for early June during which it will be unavailable.

Sometime during the summer Kindles will become supported for eBooks through the Download Library. In anticipation of increased usage once Kindles are supported, new eBook titles are being quickly added. Member libraries interested in building their own collections in conjunction with the system can now take part in OverDrive Advantage.

Executive Director Evaluation

David, Joyce and Linda, with input from Board members, completed James’ annual performance evaluation on April 22. The Board looks forward to continuing its working relationship with James as Executive Director of the Maine InfoNet.

The next Board meeting will be held June 15 at 1:30 at the Maine State Library Studio.

Elizabeth Reisz, Recording Secretary
