How To Generate Shelving Location Counts
Count the number of items on your shelves by counting the number of item locations in each location.
Use the Statics Mode in the Circulation Module to count items.
- From the Circ module, Select Statistics from the left-hand menus.
- Click New Query
- Name the query and the results file something you'll remember
- Change Range to Index and use BARCODE (b) with your unique barcode range
(3_ _ _ _ 000000000 to 3 _ _ _ _ 999999999)
- Change Bibliographic to Item and keep Field Statistics selected
- Click Run the Query!
- Say OK to running the query without saving it
Now in the list of results, you can see your list running.
This will take only a few minutes because you limited by barcode.
- Once it has finished, select your report and click View Report
This report will remain here until you delete it (select the report and click Delete button at the top). You can always come back to it by opening statistics and selecting the Results Files tab.
- Once viewing the report, select LOCATION at left to break down stats by item location.
- To view in Excel, click Export button at top.
Since these numbers are broken down by location, you can separate out your juvenile (and YA) collections so long as they have different location codes.
Please do remember to delete reports when you are finished with them, to clear up the list.
