Boat Registration Renewal
The boat registration renewal service allows citizens of your municipality and non-residents who moor their boat in your municipality to renew their Maine State boat registration online. Payment for registration and excise tax fees can be made using a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit or debit card. All excise tax funds collected on your town's behalf will be electronically deposited directly into the bank account you specify.
The boat registration renewal online service is available to your citizens at https://www.maine.gov/online/boat. Your citizens will need to provide the system with either their boat's registration or serial number to get started. After supplying that information, the user will be displayed excise tax fees due and registration fees due which can be paid for in one seamless transaction using a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit or debit card.
Once a payment is made on behalf of your municipality, an electronic funds transfer will be initiated and all excise tax fees collected will be deposited from InforME to your bank account on a daily basis. To view and manage the excise tax payments collected as well as to download files that can be imported into your financial reconciliation software, you will need to visit your Municipal Administrative Website.InforME receives all boat information from the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife's MOSES database and updates that same database directly. This means that municipal representatives do not need to upload or download anything in order for your citizens to use the service. Additionally, IFW will be responsible for mailing stickers and registration materials directly to online service users. You will also continue to receive pre-print information just as you currently do, whether through the MOSES system or via paper, from IFW.
