The Maine PayPort service provides your municipality with a cost-effective way to accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit card payments over-the-phone or over-the-counter. Maine PayPort will allow your customers to make credit card payments for virtually any municipal item or fee; including such items as property tax payments, permit and licensing fees, and excise tax payments.
Maine PayPort is a web-based interface which means you do not need to download anything on your computer or purchase any software or hardware to make the system function; you simply need a computer and an internet connection. If you choose, Maine PayPort is compatible with card swipe readers which can be purchased through InforME.
Maine PayPort processes all payments using Maine.gov’s established CyberTrust Certified and PCI/DSS compliant payment engine. We provide you with assurance that all private customer data is secured according to the most up-to-date and stringent security standards.
InforME will work with your municipal staff to launch Maine PayPort. The training session includes a walkthrough of the Maine PayPort Service, a review of the frequently asked questions, and an opportunity for staff to ask any questions. We will also set up a test Maine PayPort shop so you can familiarize yourself with the features and functionality before going live.
How to Participate
Maine PayPort is available to any municipal office statewide. Once you complete the participation request we will contact you to schedule an informational meeting with InforME. This will assist your staff in understanding the steps that will be necessary in order to accept credit cards in your office.
