Rapid Renewal Service
The Rapid Renewal Service (RRS) provides your municipality with an easy way to offer your citizens a new and convenient service. With Rapid Renewal the citizens of your municipality will be able to quickly renew their motor vehicle registrations online.
Municipalities may also choose whether they wish to accept credit cards (MasterCard or Visa) and/or electronic checks as payment.
In December 2000, the State of Maine introduced the Rapid Renewal service with a pilot of 10 municipalities. This service has been very popular with both municipalities and citizens, and currently more than 130 municipalities offer this service.
The Office of the Secretary of State and InforME, the Secretary of State’s partner in providing this service, will work with your municipal staff to launch the Rapid Renewal Service. The training session includes a walkthrough of the Rapid Renewal Service demo and the administrative site demo, a review of the frequently asked questions and an opportunity for staff to ask any questions. Although on-site training is not a requirement, the benefits include introducing your entire staff to the RRS and preparing your staff to answer citizen questions.
How to Participate
The Rapid Renewal program is available statewide to all municipalities wishing to participate.
Municipalities will be asked to schedule an informational meeting with InforME. The informational meeting will assist your staff in understanding the steps they are going to need to do in order to make Rapid Renewal successful.
