Website VSM Update

Kwe/Good morning,

Meskey/I'm sorry for not sending these notes out earlier. I was out on Friday.

The members present {Rachel Newman, David Welch, Amanda Rector and myself} felt we did a good job narrowing the focus of the policy recommendations.  I've listed those present at the meeting so you can call on us if you are unsure of the tasks listed below.

Helen helped us (as usual) focus on what should be included.  After discussing how best to assessing the writing we decided to do this.

All team members are to take a stab at writing the policy recommendations.  Examples of current MDOL policies can be found at this link: http://inet/commissioner/internal_web_site.htm.

The meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, 23 February has been cancelled.  That will be the deadline for writing your drafts and sending them along to David Welch.  He'll see to it that all team members get everyone's version and during the next two weeks, you should look over ALL the submissions and when we meet on the 9th of March, we can pick and choose which pieces to include, rewrite, etc.

First, all spelling, grammar and typing rules are temporarily suspended.  (^o^) Please do not worry about these items as we'll be sure to use spell and syntax checkers before we submit a policy recommendation.  Just give it your best shot and I'm sure we'll have a good final product.

Additionally, as justification for the policy recommendations, there are a number of 'talking points' that should be included in your version.  These are:

inconsistent creation and updating of MDOL web pages

decentralized approach to appearance and content

inconsistent compliance with ADA and Section 508 accessibility standards

          numerous outdated pages

          inadequate customer feedback

If you have others in mind or in your notes that support the policy, please feel free to include them.  Again, if everyone takes a stab at this, we'll cover everything and hopefully get a well written set of recommendations.

Just so no one is unduly shocked, once this and the metrics are complete {today or tomorrow a.m.}, we will have to make a presentation to management.  I'm hoping that the whole team will be there (safety in numbers) as everyone has different skills, memories, etc.

As always, let me know if I've forgotten anything or made any errors.  (^o^)

Nmultes/See you later
