About Rep. Piotti

Representative John Piotti is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives and his first as House Majority Leader. As Majority Leader, he is the political spokesperson for the House Democratic caucus, which holds the Majority in the House of Representatives with 95 members. Rep. Piotti is a past Chair of the Taxation Committee, and has worked to bring comprehensive, bipartisan reform of Maine's tax code. As Majority Leader, he continues his work as a consensus builder on biggest the challenges facing Maine, including environmental and conservation issues, health care reform, and fiscal policy.

Outside of the Legislature, Rep. Piotti is the Executive Director of the Maine Farmland Trust which is Maine's only statewide land trust focused on farmland. In this role, he oversees the trust's mission to work with landowners, land trusts, farmland preservation groups, and municipalities to identify and preserve valuable agricultural land, so that it will forever remain available for farming.

John is past Chair of the Unity College Board of Trustees and was President of Kennebec Valley Council of Governments (KVCOG). He holds three degrees from MIT, in engineering, public policy, and management.
