Rep. Joan W. Welsh
Rep. Joan Welsh is serving in her second term in the House of Representatives
and serves on the Joint Standing
Committee on Environment and Natural Resources.
Rep. Welsh has worked for several non-profit organizations in
the mid-coast area, including serving as President/CEO of Hurricane
Island Outward Bound, Director of Student and Academic Affairs
for Rockport College, and Deputy Director of the Natural Resources
Council of Maine. An active community member, Welsh has served
on numerous boards in the state, including the Maine Women’s
Fund, Maine Development Foundation, Riley School, and Common Good
Ventures. She currently serves on the Boards of Center for Furniture
Craftsmanship, Maine Media Workshops, and chairs the Knox County
Committee of the Maine Community Foundation.
Rep. Welsh attended Pomona College and the University of Colorado.
She holds a B.A. degree in English. Welsh is the mother of three
grown children, grandparent of six, and the daughter of a still-vital
93 year old.
