About Rep. Valentino

Representative Linda Valentino was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2004. She is a member of the committees on Regulatory Fairness and Reform and Veterans and Legal Affairs.

She has spearheaded an effort to honor Maine women veterans by raising funds to place a commemorative plaque for female service members and veterans in the State House Hall of Flags. She has been a careful steward of tax payer dollars, reducing state spending, while preserving the social safety net, and investing in our future.

Rep. Valentino sponsored a bill prohibiting issuers of gift cards from charging dormancy fees and requiring any up-front transaction charges to be fully disclosed to consumers at the time of purchase. It became law. Later, she was integral in passing a bill commonly known as the Anti-bully Act, which amended school codes of conduct to address harassment and bullying. Rep. Valentino supports Maine businesses, opportunity through education and access to quality health care for every Mainer.

Rep. Valentino is a 1974 graduate of Thornton Academy. She has a B.A. in political science from the University of Southern Maine and is a certified paralegal. She is a former Commissioner of the Maine Liquor and Lottery Commission and was elected for three terms to the Saco City Council, where she served as Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Finance Committee.

She and her husband, Curtis Scamman, live on Boom Road in Saco. They have three grown children and two grandchildren.
