Rep. Innes
Rep. Melissa Walsh Innes is serving her first term in the Maine House of
Representatives and is a member of the Legislature’s Joint Standing
Committee on Natural Resources.
A native to the Yarmouth area, Rep. Innes currently works in special
education. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine,
earning her degree in Social Work, and since then has worked to
support Maine citizens with mental illness, Alzheimer's Disease,
and developmental disabilities.
Rep. Innes has also owned a professional organizing business.
Locally, Rep. Innes has been a leader on energy conservation issues
as the co-chair of the Yarmouth Energy Savers Committee, which
has worked to cut costs and energy usage of municipal and residential
buildings.
Rep. Innes, along with her husband Shawn and three daughters,
attends the First Universalist Church of Yarmouth, where she chairs
the Faith in Action Council, which seeks to advance economic and
environmental justice in the surrounding community.
