There are 10,000 women veterans in Maine. Yet, we have no singular
list on record and no memorial honoring their service.
That’s why the 124th Legislature passed
a resolve calling for a bronze memorial plaque to be placed in
the
State House Hall of Flags among existing
plaques honoring
veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Lawmakers and the Maine Veterans Service need help to locate Maine
women veterans and to raise funds to have the plaque made prior to Veterans
Day in November 2010.
