About
Rep. Chapman
Rep. Chapman represents the six coastal Hancock County towns of Blue Hill,
Brooksville, Castine, Penobscot, Sedgwick, and Surry. He has lived in the
region for twenty years with his wife, Rebecca Poole, where they raised
their (now grown) children. He has also served for six years on Brooksville's
Budget & Advisory Committee.
His primary career has been in scientific research applied to
energy, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. He has worked
at the MIT Lincoln Lab, the Tufts Electro-Optics Technology Center,
and currently at United Technologies Center, the regional public
Career & Technical Education secondary school in Bangor.
Rep. Chapman has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals
and has reviewed numerous articles submitted for publication. He
has taught at the elementary to graduate levels and currently provides
training in advanced building science for the energy efficient
residential construction industry.
His legislative priorities are: 1) to bring a scientific approach
and data analysis capability to the legislative process; 2) to
promote job creation through innovation in local industry & 3)
to encourage citizen involvement in governmental processes.
Rep. Chapman is serving his first term in the Legislature and
is a member of the Marine Resources Committee and is a proud member
of a local Community Supported Fisheries initiative.
