Rep. Berry
Representative Seth Berry is serving his third term in the Legislature
and is the House Democratic Lead member on the Joint Standing Committee
on Taxation.
Representative Berry was born in Bowdoinham and attended kindergarten
at Coombs School. While at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA, he
served as an intern in Maine's District 1 Congressional Office
in Washington D.C. Representative Berry earned a bachelor's degree
from Brown University, and later studied abroad in Ecuador, South
America. After graduation he taught public school students in
East Harlem (Central Park East Secondary) and Washington Heights,
New York City. His master's degree is from Columbia University,
Teachers College, 1994.
Berry returned to his hometown of Bowdoinham where he served
as a selectman between June 2002 and December 2006, including
a year as chair.
Currently, Berry is a consulting teacher and staff developer
in Maine’s public schools. He and his wife, Adelaida Gaviria,
reside in Bowdoinham with their two young children.
