About
Rep. Longstaff
Rep. Thomas Longstaff is serving his first term in the Legislature and
is a member of the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee. For the
last five years Rep. Longstaff has been a member of the Waterville City
Council. As
a Councilor he was actively involved in revising the City's Charter
and ordinances, as well as with facilities and information technology.
Rep. Longstaff grew up in Winthrop, Maine. He is a graduate of
Winthrop High School and holds degrees from the University of Maine
at Orono, Bangor Theological Seminary and Columbia University.
He has served in the Maine National Guard, the U. S. Marine Corps
and has experience in wholesale and retail business. He accepted
a faculty appointment at Colby College in 1969 and taught at Colby
until his retirement in 2003.
Tom lives in Waterville with his wife Cynthia. Tom is an experienced
archaeologist. Cindy, an occupational therapist, is an active volunteer
in many community organizations. They enjoy spending time with
their children and grandchildren and love the coast of New England.
