Town of Harpswell
Harpswell is a town in Cumberland County. Settled in 1689, incorporated as a district in 1758 and as a town in 1775, it has the longest coastline of any town in Maine. It includes Orrs Island, Bailey Island, and the village Cundy's Harbor on Great or Sebascodegan Island.
Though many Maine towns are 6-mile by 6-mile squares, thus 36 square miles, Harpswell's irregular shape yields 24.6 square miles. That same irregular shape accounts for its approximately 150 miles of coastline.
