Town of Swanville

Waldo CountySwanville is a town in Waldo County, incorporated on February 19, 1818 from Swan's Tract Plantation.

Settled in 1774, the town is known as Goose Pond on some early maps. The Goose River is an outlet from Swan Lake, the dominant water body today, which includes a state park at its northern tip.

Hurd's Pond is a twenty-five acre water body surrounded by 75 acres of sedge meadow and freshwater wetlands. Frequented by many species of migrating and breeding waterfowl including bitterns, great blue herons, and ducks, it is owned and managed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.

The town is an easy drive to Belfast south on Maine Route 141
