MaineDOT To Close Eden Street In Bar Harbor On Tuesday
On Tuesday, October 20, The Maine Department of Transportation must close a section of Eden Street (Route 3) near downtown Bar Harbor in order to replace a failing culvert.
MaineDOT crews plan to close Eden Street at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, and if construction goes as planned, will reopen Eden Street at 4 p.m. Crews may need to limit traffic on Monday to one lane of alternating traffic in order to limit the hours of the Tuesday closure. The construction site is located just north of the Highbrook Road intersection on Eden Street near the College of the Atlantic
Variable message boards are in place alerting motorists of the upcoming closure. On the day of the closure, cars will be directed to a signed detour that utilizes the Paradise Hill Road and West Street Extension. Commercial vehicles that seek to access downtown Bar Harbor will be directed to Routes 198 and 233.
In the event of heavy rain on Tuesday, construction work will be rescheduled for Wednesday, October 21.
