CULVERT WORK TO DETOUR TRAFFIC IN CUSHING

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) says a culvert replacement project will detour traffic in Cushing next Monday and Tuesday (August 13 and 14th).

“We need to replace a deteriorated culvert under the Cross Road in Cushing,” explains Harry Fitzgerald of MaineDOT’s Region 2, which includes the mid-coast area.  “The most efficient, most effective way to do the project is to close the road in the immediate vicinity of the work area and have traffic use a detour for a couple of days.”

“Drivers will still be able to access local destinations on the Cross Road from each end of the project, but no through traffic will be allowed,” Fitzgerald continued.  “On Monday and Tuesday, traffic will follow a marked detour using the Spears Mill Road as an alternate route.”

Fitzgerald says the work is weather dependent and that in case of severe weather the project will be postponed on a day-to-day basis.
