WORK TO BEGIN ON ROUTE 2 IN DIXFIELD
Road construction crews under the supervision of MaineDOT are set to begin roadwork on a nearly two-mile section of Route 2 in Dixfield.
Crews from K&K Excavation of Turner will start work on Monday, April 7. The road work will begin .55 miles north of the Canton Point Road, and will continue easterly 1.85 miles along Route 2. This project is scheduled to be completed by the middle of June of next year.
This is a major reconstruction of the road, and crews will be clearing trees and brush along the roadways, relocating utility poles, adding a new road sub-base, and then new pavement.
There will be a temporary detour in the area of Newton Brook Bridge that will be in place for part of the construction period, likely from the first of June through the end of October. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, regulated by temporary traffic signals.
Motorists should expect delays through the 2008 construction season, and are asked to use caution in the project area, due to road conditions as well as well as the presence of construction workers and flaggers
