WORK TO CLOSE EMBDEN-NEW PORTLAND ROAD NEXT WEEK

The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) says local drivers in Embden and New Portland may want to allow some extra time next Tuesday, September 4th.

“We need to replace a deteriorated drainage pipe under the Katie’s Crotch Road, which connects Embden and New Portland,” explains Artie Lane of MaineDOT’s Region 3.  “The fastest, most efficient and least expensive way to do that is to close the road completely for the day.”

“Because of easy connections to other local roads leading to the same locations, traffic inconvenience should be minimal, but drivers may want to allow a little extra time to be sure,” Lane explains.

He notes that some of the work is weather dependent and if the weather is bad on Tuesday, the work and road closure will be postponed until Wednesday, September 5th.
