MAINEDOT TO WORK ON HALLOWELL BRIDGE THIS WEEK AND NEXT

This Thursday, May 15th, Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) Bridge Maintenance Division crews will be cleaning the Second Street Bridge in Hallowell in advance of a project to pave the bridge next week. This bridge cleaning work is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, and should be completed by 3:00 p.m. on the same day.

On Monday, May 19th, MaineDOT will repave the asphalt wearing-surface of the Second Street Bridge. The bridge will be completely closed to through-traffic while this work is being done. Traffic heading south will be detoured from Second Street onto North Street, then onto Route 27/201, and then onto Winthrop Street. Traffic heading north will follow the same detour route, but in the opposite direction. MaineDOT bridge managers expect that the paving project will be completed in one day.

Please note that this work is highly weather-dependent, and in the event of unfavorable weather, the work will be postponed until the next day that paving can be performed.

For more information, contact MaineDOT Region 2 Bridge Manager Mike Eldridge, by telephone at 624-8225 or by e-mail at Mike.Eldridge@maine.gov.
