CULVERT WORK TO DETOUR STETSON ROAD TRAFFIC
IN LEVANT AND KENDUSKEAG
The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) says drivers using the Stetson Road in Levant and Kenduskeag should allow some additional travel time for the next two weeks.
“We need to replace three drainage pipes which run under the Stetson Road near the Call Farm. Because the pipes are so large, the most cost effective, efficient way to replace them is to close the road while we take out the old pipes and install the new ones,” explains Earl Eberhart of MaineDOT’s Eastern Region Office, where the work is being coordinated.
“We’ll be closing the Stetson Road to through traffic beginning Monday, August 13th and plan to reopen it sometime on Friday, August 24th. The closure area is in the general vicinity of the Call Farm on the Stetson Road. During the next two weeks, through traffic will be directed to a marked detour using the Mudgett and Brann Roads,” Eberhart explains.
“The Stetson Road will remain open to local traffic from each end of the detour as far as the actual work area, but no through traffic will be allowed,” he concluded.
