Portland's Veranda Street Bridge Reopens three weeks ahead of schedule

The Veranda Street Bridge in Portland, closed since June for replacement, is now open to traffic once again.

The new bridge reopened to traffic last night, September 1, at approximately 7 p.m. Crews worked six-day workweeks in order to reopen the bridge quickly, and the bridge reopened approximately three weeks ahead of schedule.

CPM Constructors of Freeport was the contractor for the $1.2 million project, overseen by MaineDOT.

Construction crews will be in the area over the next few weeks completing work returning traffic patterns back to their original pre-construction design, but motorists should not experience any significant delays.

MaineDOT would like to extend their appreciation to all who were inconvenienced by the closing.
